By virtue of being here, you have already lost. But you can still figure out who comes in second place, right?
OligarchOpoly is played as an add-on to the original game, or your favorite O-poly variant.
At the beginning of the game, prior to rolling for turn order, we role for status. Each player rolls two D6 dice, if the player rolls 12, they have Oligarch status. The Banker shuffles the Oligarch cards, and the Player picks one without looking at the face. They may keep it secret, or share their role and special power at any time they see fit.
There can be multiple Oligarchs in a game, conflicting Oligarch roles and decisions are to be mediated between the other Oligarchs and the Banker to break ties when needed. There are no game-enforced limits to methods that may be used to settle the debate.
Play continues as normal, with the Oligarch able to use their special rules any time they, the other Oligarchs, and the Banker if necessary to mediate, see fit to allow it.
Players that did NOT roll a 12, continue as Entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneur status allows the player to buy/sell property, build houses, collect a salary, collect/pay rent, etc as allowed in the Monopoly rules.
The banker serves at the pleasure of the Oligarchs, should the Oligarchs decide to replace the banker, they may do so at any time. The banker otherwise has no responsibility outside the normal rules of the game.
Last player left in the game is the winner.
It is encouraged to use the “Free Parking” or another such rule in games. It gives the Entrepreneur status players a chance to feel like they might be able to win against you. They don’t really have a chance, but it makes them FEEL like they might be able to bankrupt you.
